This Cookie Policy explains how arnafoundry.com uses cookies and similar technologies. It should be read alongside our Privacy Policy, which sets out the broader picture of how we handle personal data.
Cookie-light by design
1. What cookies are
Cookies are small text files that a website places on your device when you visit it. They are widely used to make websites work, to remember your preferences, to measure usage, and (in many cases) to track behaviour across sites. Similar technologies such as local storage, session storage, pixels, and fingerprinting techniques can be used in comparable ways.
Under European law — in particular the ePrivacy Directive as implemented in Dutch law via the Telecommunicatiewet — websites are required to obtain consent for cookies that are not strictly necessary, and to inform visitors clearly about the cookies that are used.
2. What cookies arnafoundry.com uses
We have deliberately built arnafoundry.com to use as few cookies and tracking technologies as possible. As of the effective date of this policy, the site sets exactly one first-party functional cookie and does not load third-party tracking scripts.
2.1 The language preference cookie
When you actively switch the site's language using the EN/NL control in the navigation, we set a cookie named lang. It stores only your language choice ("en" or "nl") so the site can show you the right language on your next visit.
- Name: lang
- Provider: arnafoundry.com (first-party)
- Purpose: remembering your language preference
- Placed: only when you click the language switcher, never automatically
- Duration: 12 months
- Contents: the two-letter language code only; no identifier, no tracking
Because this cookie is strictly functional and is set at your explicit request, it falls under the consent exemption for functional cookies in the ePrivacy Directive and the Dutch Telecommunicatiewet. No consent banner is required for it.
2.2 What the site does not use
The site does not use:
- Google Analytics, Plausible, or any other analytics platform.
- Meta Pixel, LinkedIn Insight Tag, X (Twitter) tracking, or any other social or advertising pixel.
- Cross-site advertising or remarketing tags.
- Persistent first-party cookies for tracking individual visitors.
- Browser fingerprinting or device-graph services.
3. Server-side data we process (not cookies)
For completeness, we want to be transparent about a small amount of server-side data we process to keep the site secure and to measure aggregate interest. None of this involves a cookie or anything stored on your device.
| What | Why | How long |
|---|---|---|
| One-way HMAC-hashed IP address (feedback widget rate limiting) | To prevent spam and abuse of the feedback form. The hash is one-way and cannot be reversed to recover the original IP. | Auto-deleted within 1 hour |
| Anonymous download counter (Frameworks page) | To measure aggregate interest in each downloadable PDF. The counter records totals only, never who downloaded. | Indefinite (aggregate, no personal data) |
| Standard server access logs (TransIP) | Security, troubleshooting, and abuse prevention. Includes IP address, page requested, user-agent, and referrer. | Per TransIP retention (typically up to 90 days) |
4. Third-party content
Some pages on the site load web fonts from Google Fonts (DM Sans and DM Serif Display). When your browser fetches a font from Google's content delivery network, Google may receive your IP address as a normal part of that request. Google does not place a cookie via the Fonts CDN. We use Google Fonts because it is the standard, performant way to deliver the typefaces this site is designed in.
The site does not embed YouTube videos, Vimeo players, social media widgets, or other third-party content that would set cookies in your browser.
5. Future changes
If we add a tool that requires cookies — for example, an analytics platform, or an embedded chat widget — we will:
- Update this Cookie Policy to describe the new cookie clearly, including its purpose, provider, and retention.
- Install a Consent Management Platform (CMP) so you can give or withhold consent before non-essential cookies are placed, in line with the GDPR and the Dutch Telecommunicatiewet.
- Treat consent decisions as opt-in by default for non-essential cookies.
Until that happens, the site remains intentionally cookie-light.
6. How to manage cookies in your browser
Even though arnafoundry.com does not set cookies of its own, you may still want to manage cookies set by other websites you visit. All major browsers let you:
- See which cookies are stored.
- Delete some or all of them.
- Block third-party cookies entirely.
- Be notified before a cookie is placed.
The exact steps depend on your browser:
You can also use a privacy-focused browser or extension that blocks trackers by default.
7. Updates to this Cookie Policy
We may update this Cookie Policy from time to time. The "Effective date" at the top reflects the most recent revision. If the change is material — for example, the addition of a new cookie or a CMP — we will highlight the change on this page.
